Rexona Run 2010

This is one of the best run I’ve ever had so far. When we say RunRio races, that’s it.  No need to ask  if  it’s organized or not.  I love this race because of how the event was organized and went through but not with my personal record when it comes to running.  You got it.. I was not able to beat my personal record. That’s so disappointing to someone who has been engaged to running. Well, I believe it has something to do with what I eat for breakfast before the race.  Anyway, I have to get over it. The thing is I enjoyed the Rexona Run 2010, the event itself.

Finally, I got the chance to marahon with my childhood friends. This is so memorable since this was the first time we ran together. One of them ran for 3k and reached the finish line laughing. Why? because majority of those who ran with her at the 3k race category are kids. But she was not able to beat them all. Oh well, that’s part of running especially if you’re a newbie.

The moment I received the finishers’ kit, I was surprised to see grocery items. Oh, not only 2 pieces of grocery items but a couple of grocery items, from Ponds, Creamsilk, Sunsilk, Clear, Nature Valley and Rexona Spray ( too bad, this is something I can’t use because it’s for men) :-) .

TIMEX RACE 2009

TIMEX RACE 2009

This is a photo of my running mates, Apple and Marj. Timex Race is the best and most organized race I’ve evr been so far. The baggage counter is a hassle-free space. I never had a hard time looking for my bag since everything is in order.

Finally reaching the Finish Line…. Wheeeew.. No sweat!! Just kidding.. I just realized that Timex Race has a different route with the Adidas King of the Road.

“Adidas King of the Road”

On October 25, I made my way to Boni High Street to a very much awaited running event., the KING of the ROAD by Adidas. I arrived at exactly 5:00 AM, excitement I guess.

Gun shot started at  6:00 AM.  This is a view of the Starting Line of the said event. What I hated most is the baggage area. You cannot imagine how disorganize it was. Bags are scattered all over and the men in charge of this are just throwing our bags like garbage.  I should have taken a shot of  “how are bags being treated that time”!!!

Starting Line

This is what I love about marathons!! An addition to my singlet collection! But….. I just heard from a running pal that these singlets from Adidas are also being sold to non-participants…. That’s not fair!!  Well, business is business.

Finally getting to the Finish Line. It took me an hour to  reach the 5k run.  I really don’t like the way they distributed water to the runners. Imagine how thirsty you are making your way  to the steep slopes of High Street and the water you have been waiting for is inside this plastic drum.

I just hope Adidas will do better and organize their next event much better. This is not actually what I expected. I expeced a lot from this marathon. I was already pissed during the Adidas Expo in Megamall. I dont intend to write this blog negatively. I enjoyed the activity but not the whole event. Just imagine a customer not satisfied of your products.

Well, I think I will see you again on my next run, guess who will be with us… none other than Papa P, Piolo Pascual.. Time is Running!!

Rescue Runners Save the Typhoon Victims

Speaking of Ondoy, we can all have our own shares of contribution. I visited a blog of a friend of mine and saw her posting about the Rescue Run that took place last Saturday, 10th day of October 2009. This is not a race actually. This is something like a “run for a cause”. Helping Ondoy victims at the same time shedding off some fats I presume.

Apple and I made it to the 5k run!! I have to change my footwear. I am getting pissed whenever I have to tie my  shoelace from time to time. I don’t want this to happen again since it will cause discrepancy in my running time.

Reaching the Finish Line after the 5k run. I used to run and jog in a cemetery park but not in a marathon like this. I consider this as one of my achievements.

I’ll make it up on the next race. See you all in the Adidas Run   “King of the Road“. I’ll make sure to post more photos for you to find out  how addicting running is.

Filipinos Recuperating

I was having a cup of tea  when this article from Manila Bulletin caught my attention. The writer was telling the Filipinos that our resiliency were tested in the past few days. Two consecutive typhoons paid our country a visit. The first typhoon ravaged the whole Metro Manila while the 2nd typhoon damaged everything in the Northern Area of Philippines.

Despite of everything that had happened, the editor wants to convey that there is still so much to be thankful for. She even enumerated the disasters which are far worse compare to Ondoy and Pepeng like hurricane Katrina, earthquakes that hit Sumatra, China and the Mediterranean, flue epidemic in USA, heavy rains in Venezuela killing 5,000 to 20,000 people.

I agree with the writer. If my memory serves me right, the way Americans helped the Ondoy victims are  impressive. This is because they are used to it. They have faced calamities that are worse than these two typhoons.

We have to remember as well that these should be a new learning to all of us. We abused what  was given. The floodings is no longer shocking at all since we already knew that this will happen in the future.  This is not even a punishment to consider. This is the consequence of what has been done.

The Big Catastrophe

GOD PLEASE SAVE OUR COUNTRY

  Ondoy what have you done!!

This was a record breaker.. I have been residing in Manila for 23 years but I never experience a typhoon as harsh as Ondoy (Ketsana). I have been hearing news that this typhoon is a ground-breaker, after 42 years, Manila submerged and became a sunken city.

Got this through the internet
Flood victims rescued in Pasig City. This is a horrifying and traumatic experience for the people who almost did’nt make it through the waist-deep flood waters.

Received tis from a friend

Vicitims crossing over the electric wires, struggling to survive.

This is a photo of us taken in the Metro. We got stranded, wet from head to toe, waited for several hours in the street but there was no public vehicle to bring us home. We encourage ourselves to calm down from the traumatic experience we had during that time. We called our family back home to make sure that they are safe, luckily they were since our area are not that affected by the floodings. We decided to go back to our office to spend the night there. I really thanked God that I was lucky enough to survive this calamity. There is so much to be thankful for. My family is safe, my friends are safe. We just have to pick up the pieces and move on from this nightmare.

After seeing these photos, I told myself: Now we know how severe and vengeful mother nature could be….
